Here is the relevant production from the spec (be sure you always look
at the real thing: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml#sec-mixed-content):

Mixed ::= '(' S? '#PCDATA' (S? '|' S? Name)* S? ')*'
| '(' S? '#PCDATA' S? ')'

Note that what appears in the disjunction is NAMES, not anything else.
