There was a lot of debate about that. The rationale for allowing
QName for attribute names is that some attributes are globally
applicable - like xml:lang. But an attribute that is inherently bound
to its element type (which I would maintain that the id is, at least
in this case), the namespace prefix is both redundant and confusing.
